Burg has very good traffic links—only approx. 8 km from the A 2 motorway and directly on the B 1 and B 246a national routes.

The main Berlin–Magdeburg railway route runs through Burg—with a link to Hanover.

The nearest airports are in Berlin and Hanover and can be reached by car via the A 2 in approx. 1.5 hours.

The Elbe-Havel Canal links the town with the inland waterway network.
